Who You Are Today Is Enough to Start Becoming Who You Want to Be

Hey friend!

Is it still okay to say “Happy New Year”? It’s not January 1st, but it feels appropriate since this is my first newsletter of 2025.

In past years, my Januarys were all about big, bold goals. December was a whirlwind of vision boards, planners, and ambitious resolutions. I’d start the year buzzing with energy, certain this would be the year I accomplished it all. But by mid-January, that excitement often faded, replaced by overwhelm. Sound familiar?

This year, I’m taking a different approach. Instead of chasing “big splashy goals,” I’m focusing on the journey of becoming. It’s not about perfectly executing a plan or rushing toward an achievement. It’s about asking: Who do I want to become? and taking small, daily steps to embody that person.

Growth doesn’t happen in a single leap—it’s built step by step. And to take those steps, you need to meet yourself exactly where you are—not where you wish you were or think you should be.

Meeting yourself where you are isn’t about lowering your standards or giving up on big dreams. It’s about realizing you don’t have to be “ready” or “perfect” to start. This mindset shift is especially powerful for those of us who wrestle with perfectionism or the nagging feeling of being “behind.”

Why does this matter? Because goals aren’t just destinations. They’re part of a process. When you view them as steps in your journey of becoming, you see that real growth happens along the way.

Want to be more confident? Practice confidence daily—by speaking up, setting boundaries, or silencing self-doubt with an “I’ve got this.” Want to be more creative? Start small—write a paragraph, sketch for ten minutes, or let yourself play without judgment.

Some days, you’ll make great strides. Other days, you’ll stumble. That’s okay. Progress isn’t linear. What matters is showing up however you can, with grace and self-compassion.

This year, I’m leaning into the process—meeting myself with kindness, not criticism. Because when you honor where you are while working toward who you want to be, the journey itself becomes something worth celebrating.

✨ One Tiny Action To Try This Week

Take a moment to reflect on one quality you’d like to embody this year. Is it confidence? Creativity? Patience? Then ask yourself: what’s one small thing I can do this week to practice being that person?

⚡️ One More Thing ⚡️

I’m excited to invite you to something new and fun: Weekly Hobby Hour!

This is your permission slip to put aside work, deadlines, and to-do lists for a little while and enjoy something for the pure joy of it. I know you don’t need my permission, but let’s be honest, sometimes it feels good to have someone else say, “Hey, it’s okay to play today.”

Each week, I’ll be live-streaming while I work on one of my hobbies, and I’d love for you to join me! Whether you’re knitting, painting, drawing, or working on your own creative project, this time is all about taking small steps toward something that brings you joy without the pressure of perfection.

When: Wednesdays at 8 pm Eastern

Where: Take Tiny Action YouTube Channel

Bring your hobby, bring your curiosity, or bring your desire for a little creative play. It will be a relaxed, no-judgment zone where we can all take a breather and remember how fun creating is.

I can’t wait to see you there and have some fun together!

Dream big and act boldly,

Monique

Hey, Tiny Action Taker! I’m still buzzing from the very first Hobby Hour I hosted last week! I got the idea a few weeks ago, and instead of overthinking or complicating it, I just went for it—imperfectly. The response was incredible, with several of you joining me live, and let me tell you, that hour flew by. I had a great time creating alongside everyone, and I left feeling full and inspired. I’m already looking forward to doing it again this week! Moments like this remind me why it’s...

Hey friend! Life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs, doesn't it? For months, I've been eagerly anticipating my move back to my hometown early this summer. But what I didn't anticipate was the mental juggling act required to navigate building a new house while simultaneously selling my current one. With so much to plan for and uncertainty surrounding the completion date of our new home, my productivity and focus have taken a hit lately. It wasn't until fairly recently that I came to...

Hey friend! For a long time, I was caught in the trap of all-or-nothing thinking, believing that if something couldn’t be done perfectly, it wasn’t worth doing at all. Can you relate? Here’s how it played out for me: I wanted to get fit but felt discouraged unless I could commit to a rigorous 5-day-a-week gym routine. I aimed to cut sugar from my diet but thought it pointless unless I eradicated every trace of it in one go. I planned to start investing but held back, believing it wasn’t...
